about

'Trim the Sails' is about life changing events that forced me to recreate my life. It started out as a poem and months later late one night the melody just dropped out of thin air and fit.

lyrics

Trim the Sails

By: Lloyd Mark Sutton ©2005

Ocean winds taking us off with its blow
Away from the thinker of life that was so
Mystical sunrise over the sea
Observes to witness life coming free

Dream of illusion just melting away
From life lived ragged, torn and frayed
Losing the darkness that’s kept us insane
The only thing real is all that remains

Swirling patterns just bind us in time
Keeping us spinning in a hurricane rhyme
Fueled by old wounds from battles gone past
Till we trim the sails and tie down the mast

Reflecting world mirrors of false self form
Its control has so long been feeding this storm
Lost in the nightmare seas no way out
Just drowning in pain, despair and doubt

Swirling patterns just bind us in time
Keeping us spinning in a hurricane rhyme
Fueled by old wounds from battles gone past
Till we trim the sails and tie down the mast

Stars in the heavens the guides that stay
Rough waters to safe harbors while full underway
A journey not traveled by most come before
Leads us back to the beginning, we’re home once more

Swirling patterns just bind us in time
Keeping us spinning in a hurricane rhyme
Fueled by old wounds from battles gone past
Till we trim the sails and tie down the mast
